Arrive at Soqtapata by 11:00 am, trek 45 minutes to the Lodge, and enjoy a restorative lunch. Spend the afternoon and evening exploring the pristine Tropical Andes forest, discovering its rich biodiversity and nocturnal wonders.

Discover Soqtapata’s stunning water destinations, including rivers, waterfalls, and crystal-clear pools, perfect for relaxation and fun after scenic hikes. Explore the region’s incredible biodiversity with expert guidance from biologists and rangers. While spotting wildlife can be challenging, briefings and the EcoSpeciesExplorer® App help enhance your experience. Engage with daily camera trap exhibitions or unwind in the dining room with coffee and a library of nature-focused resources.

day 3. Reflection & departure

Start the day early with a birdwatching walk to spot some of Soqtapata’s 300+ bird species, including the Cock-of-the-Rock and Toucanets. After a light lunch, bid farewell to the reserve and begin the scenic return to Cusco.

Frequently Asked Questions

We welcome everyone with a spirit of curiosity and a love for the outdoors. If you're excited to stay, explore, and learn with us and immerse yourself in the wonders of the natural world, Ecotone is for you.

is it for me? We believe that nature is for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or new to eco-travel, our experiences are designed to be inclusive and enriching for all. You'll have the opportunity to connect deeply with the natural world, from the lush rainforests to the diverse wildlife that calls these areas home.
However, it's important to note that our journeys do take you off the beaten path. You'll encounter the vibrant, untamed beauty of the rainforest—this means you might meet some of its wild inhabitants, experience varying weather conditions, and navigate natural terrain. If you’re ready to embrace nature in all its forms, Ecotone is the perfect place to begin or continue your adventure.

when do I need to arrived to Cusco? We recommend arriving in Cusco at least one day before your departure. While Soqtapata itself is situated at 900 meters above sea level, so acclimatisation isn’t necessary for the destination, it’s important to note that the journey to Soqtapata includes driving through paths at elevations above 4,800 meters. Arriving a day early gives you time to prepare and adjust before embarking on the road trip.

Briefing meeting The night before departure, we will hold an online briefing meeting to provide detailed information about the upcoming trip. This is an excellent opportunity to go over the itinerary, ask any final questions, and ensure you’re fully prepared for our incredible immersive experience.

Pick-up and drop off points Our pick-up and drop-off point is the Plaza Mayor in Cusco. If requested at least 3 days before departure, we can also arrange pick-up from accommodations within a 5-minute drive of the plaza. Departure is at 5:00 a.m., and we ask that everyone be ready 30-45 minutes beforehand to ensure a smooth start to the day.

Can I store my luggage at your office? Yes! We need to arrange this with time, by email or at the briefing meeting. Keep in mind that your hotel might offer this service as well.

Additional help or assistance? Our team is ready to help you with whatever you need. Even if it is not within our control, we will be happy to connect you with additional assistance during your trip to Cusco/Peru. Just ask and we will help you.
